Cleaning & Conditioning Make up Brushes

Okay, so maybe this isn't the most interesting subject involving makeup, but it is very important. Dirty makeup brushes can house not only old makeup, but oily skin residue, dead skin cells and are basically a breeding ground for bacteria. For brushes that you use on a daily basis, I would aim for a once a week cleaning. The way I'm about to show you is for me the most effective, most gentile way to disenfect and condition your brushes.

What You'll Need :

**Dawn dishsoap ( or any dishsoap, but this is my favorite)

**Olive oil.

**A plate

**Paper Towels

**Water

In the plate, add a little olive oil, and a little (more) dish soap. The olive oil is what is going to condition your brushes, however, too much will cause them to be greasy.

Gently swirl each brush in the plate until they're sudsy and happy, then lay them on a papertowel.

When you're ready to rinse off, BE GENTLE: Try not to really SCRUB the bristles or dramatically alter the shape of the brush - because this can lead to bristles being damaged and falling out.

Rinse until water runs clear. Try to avoid the barrel of the brushes, and don't get the handle wet. This can make the bristles become loose from the glue and fall out.

When drying makeup brushes lay them flat , or at an angle - rather than standing them up. If you store your brushes vertically whilst they're drying, the water will leak down to the base of the bristles and loosen them.
