All about Brushes

The most asked question I get is about brushes... Which brushes are the best? Which brushes do I think are absolutely necessary ? I addressed how to properly clean your make up brushes in an earlier post, so today is going to be all out make up brushes, my personal opinions, what I think are the best brushes, and what is worth your money. Grab a snack, this may get lengthy. xoxo

Let's begin with foundation.

My favorite foundation brush that wont break your bank is by a great brand named Morphe Brushes. No matter what your foundation needs are, no matter if you want a dewey finish, satin finish, matte finish, full coverage, light coverage, this brush will take care of it all. It is the Morphe M439.

What It will cost you-- $13.99

Why I love it-- This brush is big, dense, fluffy and provides the easiest way to blend your foundation seamlessly. It is made with synthetic hair which is PERFECT for foundation. This brush wont leave you streaky as some traditional flat foundation brushes will. Instead of "painting" the foundation on, you are buffing it into your skin.

***** Quick lesson *****

For foundation please always ensure you are using a synthetic hair brush to apply. Synthetic fibers will not soak up any of your product, which in return will reduce waste. If you use a goat haired brush, or a natural hair brush ( which is made typically from a goat's belly hair) , they will soak up your product in the exact manner as the hair on your head soaks up oil/sweat.

*For concealer, I like to use my fingers to apply and then a brush to blend out. My favorite brush is the Sigma F86.

What It will cost you-- $24.00

Why I love it-- It's got a pointed head which makes blending close to the lash line a piece of cake. I love it because some days ( okay, most days) I can be heavy handed with my concealer. With this brush it doesn't matter because it picks up the excess.

*For All over bronzer ( not contouring ) and powder, my pick is the Morphe M180.

What It will Cost you-- $5.99

Why I love it-- Because it's big, fluffy, and creates an air brushed effect on the skin. It's perfectly tapered to apply bronzer to the cheeks without going overboard or looking "contoured". It's also perfect for applying any setting powders.

For Blush, I've really fallen in love with Sigma's F10 Blush brush.

What it will cost you-- $24.00

Why I love it-- It's the perfect size for bringing color back to the apples of your cheeks. I love that it's also synthetic so I get the best color payoff. It also has a longer handle for better control.

For setting undereye concealer ( This is a MUST if you want to stop the creasing and lines) my absolute ride or die brush is the Sigma F35.

What it will cost you-- $24.00

Why I love it-- Just like the concealer brush I just talked about above, it is pointed to ensure you reach all the way to your lash line. I cannot stress how important patting your under eye concealer with a powder is. This brush is super soft and supple as to not irrate the sensitive areas under your eyes.

Moving on to eyeshadow brushes....

For an all over the lid application my favorite is the Sigma F75.

What It will cost you-- $14.00

Why I love it-- It's dense, flat, and synthetic which always gives great color payoff.

** I realize it is marketed as a concealer brush. However, in my opinion, it is no good for concealer and best for applying eyeshadow**

For eye shadow blending I am all about Sigma's E25 brush.

What It will cost you-- $14.00

Why I love it -- It's a stiffer, more shaped brush that will make blending colors in your crease very simple.

For a great crease/higher crease brush the only brush I grap is the Morphe 502.

What it will cost you-- $5.99

Why I love it-- This beauty is big & fluffy and makes blending super easy. It makes eyeshadow seamless and eliminates any harsh lines.

For applying Gel eyeliner I really love Morphe's B73.

What It will cost you--$2.49 ( HELLO! No brainer)

Why I love it- It's angeled, which makes creating a wing almost foolproof.

Well... There you have it. Those are my babies. The best advice I can give is to invest in a set of brushes. More bang for your buck that way. Morphe Brushes sells sets starting at $13.99 all the way up to $150.00. I would recommend the Set 682. It's only $34.99. The only piece I would add in addition to the brushes in this kit would be the foundation brush I mentioned( M439)

I truly hope this helped clarify which brushes I think are the best for your money & the best for creating a flawless look. If you would like me to explain in further detail something I did not mention please feel free to let me know either on my facebook page, or by email at EMcGoldrick0314@gmail.com

xoxo.
